The Oslo food scene has something for everyone, including (at the time of writing) six restaurants with Michelin stars, including the sensational three-star Maaemo. Trendy restaurants Kontrast and Hot Shop and the more traditional Statholdergaarden are among the others. Several more are named in the Michelin guide, such as Arakataka and Smalhans. The latter serves traditional Norwegian food with a twist, and is a great introduction to Nordic cuisine. You will also find a range of more budget friendly restaurants in town, such as: Katla, Ostebutikken, Villa Paradiso, and Nektar. For food stall market enthusiasts, make sure to check out Oslo Street Food, Vippa, Via Village, and Mathallen.
Norwegians love coffee, particularly with pastries and baked goods aside. For coffee lovers, visit the world-renowned coffee shops Tim Wendelboe and Supreme Roastworks. For those with a sweet tooth, do not miss out on the cardamom buns at Farine or the sweet or salty pancakes at Grains.
If you’re still trying to find your way around town, please have a look through our “Work in Oslo” section. Here you will find an overview on getting around Oslo, either on foot or by bike, tram, underground or car.
